A Year In Review: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly of 2020 (and Hints on 2021)

Hello Perch friends! Happy 2021. We’re starting the new year by sharing a podcast Xander and Jacob did last week looking back on the major geopolitical developments of the year. Thanks to all of you who have rated the podcast recently – we are up to 56 ratings and are trying to hit 75 by the end of the month, so if you haven’t yet, please give it a whirl!

On the podcast, Xander and Jacob discuss the major geopolitical highlights of 2020 and look ahead and some of the most important trends in 2021. Like all Perch pods it is a wide-ranging conversation, and lucky for y’all, it’s also our first pod that we also have a transcript for if listening just isn’t your thing. But we hit a few key topics:

  • The almost U.S.-Iran war that started 2020 off on the right foot
  • The U.S.-China trade war
  • And of course, a little thing called COVID-19. Perhaps you’ve heard of it!

Looking ahead, we touched on a few key trends we are worried about it the year ahead, including:

  • The likelihood of rising global food prices in the year ahead
  • The future of the UK now that Brexit is over (hint: we’re pessimistic!)
  • The geopolitics of climate change
  • And much more…

Take a listen and as always, reach out to us by replying to this e-mail or dropping a note to info@perchperspectives.com. We’ve got a number of exciting projects in the works right now, but we’re also eager to add a few additional clients to our list and our newsletter subscribers are our best reference, so if anyone you know needs help navigating the geopolitics of 2021, don’t be shy. Otherwise, keep wearing those masks and loving each other and we’ll catch you on the flip side with Friday’s week in review.
