The Geopolitics and Economics of Fracking with Bethany McLean

Good morning and happy Tuesday to you all. We wanted to check in and share our latest podcast with you. Bethany McLean is probably best known for her authoritative history on the Enron scandal (“The Smartest Guys in the Room” – a highly recommended read if you haven’t read it already!). But we wanted to pick her brain about her latest book, “Saudi America: The Truth About Fracking and How It’s Changing the World.”

We had a wide-ranging conversation, touching on subjects like what fracking is, what U.S. oil production means for U.S. foreign relations and the world in general, and of course, some thoughts on Enron to close it out.

This was one of our favorite podcast episodes to record thus far and we are super grateful to Bethany for making some time to talk to us. You can listen by clicking here, or if you’d rather read the transcript of the conversation, you can do that by clicking here. And remember, if you need more Perch in your life, we are pumping out our new Latin America-focused politics newsletter, LatamPolitik over at ¡Cuídate y nos vemos el viernes!
